Link Building: Alive and Well

Why It’s Still Important to Build Links

There has been so much written about link building in the aftermath of the Google Panda and Penguin updates. Many now question if building links is still viable. Well, there are two things every single website needs without exception. Content and links. The content is what people link to, but it is the links that help your website get found. If you lack one of them then your website will not be a success. Let’s take a little look as to why creating backlinks still is so important for every website out there.

The main reason as to the importance of link building is for Search Engine Optimization. As a marketer, you are most likely aware that search engines rank websites based on their relevancy to a key word. There are two ways to judge how relevant a site is. The first is through taking a little look at the content on a page, but this will only get you so far; after all, search engine spiders are not intelligent and thus won’t know how useful the content is. This means that other methods need to be looked into, and that is the amount of links you have linking to that content. After all, the more links, the more relevant the content should be right? This means that link building, done in the right way, could potentially send your websites hurtling to the top of the search engines.

The second benefit is that they act as a ‘gateway’ to your website. This means that if somebody comes across your link online, and the content that it promotes appeals to them, they will be able to come to your website. This means that the amount of traffic coming through to your website is boosted, and if this is targeted traffic it could mean that you are going to generate a lot of money!

So How Should You Build Your Links?build backlinks

Well, there are a number of different ways in which you build up links to your website! Let me run you through the various ways that you can use. Bear in mind that this isn’t a complete list either! But put your link anywhere online and it can be seen as link building.

Many people like to start off with blog and forum commenting, although this is a rather time consuming process best left to outsourcing. The benefit here is that your links are going to be placed in ‘targeted’ locations, and that means you are going to be generating some high converting traffic (hopefully!)

Another method is through article marketing, or guest blogging. This is where articles you write are shared throughout the internet world, hopefully building up your ‘reputation’ as well as the amount of links to your website, again in targeted locations. Guest blogging is currently a very popular method for gaining relevant backlinks.

Don’t forget social media either! Post something great on popular social media sites and your link will have the potential to go viral. You could quite easily end up with more links than you can shake a stick at! And with the search engines looking more and more at social networking when it comes to ranking websites, this is something that you can’t afford to pass up!

You may even want to buy link building services for your website! Make sure you buy from a reputable provider, however. After all, you don’t want your backlinks to be of low quality and thus negatively affect your site?

So there you have it, start building those links and start generating A LOT of traffic to your website, and we all know what this means right? Yes, more conversions, and of course, more money in your pocket.
